For a period of 18 months, Ngong Diocese has been celebrating the Year of Catechesis. A great period in the Church of deepening faith through catechesis.

Running on the theme, “Understand, love and live your Christian Faith” the year was launched in October 2024 to enable the faithful of the Diocese, have a moment to reflect on their Catholic faith and ask relevant questions that may have been bothering them on matters faith.

At Mass closing the year of Catechesis, bishop John Oballa said that the period has been a time of profound renewal and grace, as it has allowed the faithful deepen their commitment to catechesis the essential ministry of teaching and transmitting the faith.

The bishop while rolling the banner of the year of Catechesis released a Pastoral Letter, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom…” (Col. 3:16). He asked the faithful to continue carrying the tools of faith and living the Holy teaching of Jesus Christ.

“As we close this moment of grace, we are full of gratitude to God and we can promise to carry this spirit alive. We exhort families, parish communities and individual Christians to continue with studying, reflection and living the holy teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is always in our midst. We encourage you to keep carrying these tools in your hearts as symbols of our catholic faith, worship and life.” Said bishop John Oballa Owaa.

During Mass the bishop recognized eight Catechists from the seven deaneries for their great contribution in seeding faith among the faithful.

The Mass took place at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral in Ngong.
