Year after year, the Catholic Men’s Association (CMA) gathers to celebrate its Diocesan Mass, a moment of prayer, fraternity, and reflection. This cherished tradition binds men together in faith, service, and solidarity.
Guided by the theme, “Men Living Their Faith in Hope,” an inspiring reminder that Christian manhood is rooted not in strength alone but in perseverance, compassion, and unwavering trust in God.
Fittingly, this year’s CMA Diocesan Mass coincided with the Feast of St. Luke, the beloved physician and evangelist. Bishop Oballa asked men to be a Luke to others. “Men, be a Luke to others. Stand by them. With courage, joy and perseverance, be servants of the Lord's Word of faith lived in hope. Sow that seed by your life and witness. Always sow the seed of the message of hope in other people's lives in the Family, in the Church and in the Society.”
The bishop asked men to walk with others through their struggles, whether they face illness, job loss, family breakdown, or spiritual fatigue. He urged them to be men of integrity who strengthens others through their presence and prayer.
Today’s man faces many challenges, financial pressures, unemployment, family responsibilities, and social expectations that test integrity and patience. Yet God calls men to rise above discouragement, to be pillars of faith and sources of encouragement for one another.
The bishop called men to live their faith in hope, even when the path is steep and the reward unseen. “The world often resists truth, honesty, and justice. Sometimes, even within our own families or workplaces, faith can feel like a burden rather than a blessing. But the Christian man is called to perseverance, to live his faith in hope, even when the path is steep and the reward unseen.”
He said that, ‘when men come together in faith, the Church grows stronger. When men live in hope, families are healed. When men act with compassion, the world becomes more just and humane.
The Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator who is also the Chaplain of Catholic Men Association, expressed his gratitude to men for their great contribution in evangelization in the diocese. He asked men to live a balanced life setting time for prayer, work and interactions.
